Fundraising For Kim Mcduff’s Chemotherapy
it is with great sadness that our beautiful & loving Kim McDuff has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer.
Hodgkin lymphoma, sometimes called Hodgkin disease, is a type of lymphoma - a general term for cancer of the lymphatic system (the various lymph glands around the body).
Hodgkin lymphoma is a rare cancer accounting for approximately 0.5% of all cancers diagnosed in Australia. It is most commonly diagnosed in people aged between 15 and 29 or over 65.
After receiving the unexpected & dreaded phone call to confirm the diagnosis on Monday, Kim has been given 3 days to pack her bags to temporarily move to Brisbane for up to 6 months where she will start Chemotherapy this weekend provided by The Leukaemia Foundation.
Kim is required to stay within walking distance of The Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital so nurses canvisit her during chemotherapy treatments. Accommodation around this area is up to $150 per night. Depending on how Kim reacts to the treatment, chemo may be up to 6 months. Just for accommodation costs for 6 months, this could be at least $25,000. This doesn’t include other living expenses whilst having no income.
With 2020 being hard for most of us, unfortunately it has been a lot worse for others. Kim is a wonderful mother to her 2 children both in the Defence Forces & is also a loving grandmother! Kim has been a “mother” to a lot of us staff at Brothers Sports Club & the customers will miss her smiling face without her there!
We are asking for any donation, small or big, to help assist Kim to kick this cancer in the butt & get her home & healthy as soon as possible.
For any information on Hodgkins Lymphoma, please visit the Cancer Council website.
Thank you for your donations! We’ve got your back Kim!
With love from Kay, all the Brothers Staff & everyone else who has been blessed to have you in our lives. X
