We're appealing to you because we need some help.
Justin's dad was recently diagnosed with terminal phase cancer.
As you may know, Justin's family is from Laos, and the rest of his extended family all live there. His dad's final wish is to visit the rest of his family in Laos, together with Justin, his mom, and his sister. Justin would like to make his dad's wish come true, but the main hurdle is the cost of the 4 plane tickets at a time when the family is potentially facing an unknown amount of upcoming expenses.
We want to try to help Justin and his family out by doing some fundraising right here within Cadreon/Mediabrands, and we're respectfully requesting your assistance. Justin deserves our help; your help.
For the several years he's been with the company, he has collaborated with all of us on an incredible amount of projects, from training employees and clients, to Programmatic, to leading the employee onboarding redesign... He stretches himself to organize volunteering events and fun activities for employees, he is a positive influence on our company culture, and he brightens our day-to-day. He's one of the friendliest people working here, and he always makes a priority of giving back to his peers, community, friends, and neighbors. Helping Justin as he struggles with such a devastating hardship is the least we can do.
This is one of those rare opportunities for greatness, where we can choose to show somebody we care about that we're standing behind him as he faces a tragic series of events in the months to come.
Concretely, we are trying to raise $10,000. This money would cover the cost of plane tickets for Justin, his sister, and his two parents to fly to Laos on China Southern Airlines.
This is a 30 hour journey with several stops, so this would also cover the cost to fly his dad in business class so that he can make the trip comfortably. So three coach tickets, one business class.
Any amount you can contribute is helpful. No amount is too little. The math is simple -- here is what we need:
- If 20 people donate $500, then we've made it!
- If 40 people donate $250, then we've made it!
- If 100 people donate $100, then we've made it!
You get the idea... Let's make this happen! Some ways you can defray the cost to help this cause include:
- Skipping one nice dinner out
- If you're taking a long vacation this year, reducing the length of the trip by one day to save one night in a hotel
- Taking public transportation to/from the airport instead of a taxi
- Waiting longer to upgrade your phone if you can :)
We request that you PLEASE KEEP THIS CONFIDENTIAL because Justin has only told only a few people about his dad's prognosis, and he doesn't know that we are fundraising to try to help him.
