Hi!
i have set up this go fund me page for two of my closest friends Lauren & Michael and their family to help fund a huge and ongoing (£600-£800) a day vet bill for their lovely dog Hector. Their insurance limit has now been exceeded and now is the time for friends, family and the community to help fund as much as possible.
If we hit £5k I’ll run a half marathon
Here is their story about Hector
Hector is a 4year old, soon to be 5year old Dalmatian. Who comes from a very loving family. He has helped bring joy and happiness into their lives whilst the family suffered personal losses. Hector is the most loving, loyal companion, who greets everyone with his big smile and wagging tail. He loves to snuggle up on the sofa, go for long walks and he is the biggest counter surfer, who loves his food, including thing he is not allowed.
Unfortunately when he came home a couple of weeks ago after a walk he has injured his back paw whilst playing with his friends. From this he has contracted tenatus which is rare in dogs, and can be fatal with Hector's current prognosis of 60%.
Hector is currently being treated at Davies specialist vets in Hitchin where he is being cared for in the intensive care unit with 24hour care, feeding tube, IV medication and physiotherapy. Hector has been there since the 7th March. The family have insurance of 10k but due to the severity of the condition, Hector could be there for a while, there is no time frame it is day by day to see if Hector survives and makes a recovery. We know he will be there until he can eat and walk, as currently due to muscle ridgety he can't move or eat orally.
Tetanus in dogs is a rare, severe, and costly-to-treat neurotoxin infection—caused by Clostridium tetani entering wounds—that causes rigid muscle spasms, "lockjaw," and breathing difficulties, often requiring weeks of intensive care. Fundraisers should highlight the sudden, paralyzing nature of the illness and the high cost of life-saving, 24/7 care.
We’re asking for any help, big or small, to support Hector’s treatment. Every donation will go directly toward his veterinary bills and the care he needs to get better. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing Hector’s story would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read Hector’s story and for any support you can offer. It truly means more than we can put into words. ❤️
