My name is Rachelle Ahrends (Toms) and i am the younger sister to Gideon’s amazing mother, Ashley and sister in law to Gideon’s awesome father, Mat. (Most importantly, Auntie to Gideon Leon Wolf)

When Mat and Ashley found out they were pregnant with Gideon the excitement was radiated through the entire family.

Early on in the pregnancy Mat and Ash found out that G would be born with an Omphalocele, which is a birth defect that causes some organs to stick outside of the belly through the belly button.

With this defect Gideon had to spend the first 5 months of his life in the hospital, getting cared for at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. During his time in the hospital Gideon had to undergo surgeries and various procedures to help recover and heal.

While in Chicago Mat and Ashley were graciously able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house and be close to Gideon everyday.

Gideon was able to leave the hospital and come home with his parents in August.

Gideon had to return to the Children’s hospital in Chicago recently to undergo another surgery for additional complications. He is healing and growing stronger each day! We look forward to his return back home with his family soon.

We appreciate any and all contributions, these donations will help the Wolf family with medical expenses that were incurred while in the hospital, and continued care for Gideon.
