The rains and floods inundated hundreds of villages, swept away homes, schools, flooded roads and destroyed bridges in the North of Pakistan, the mountainous Gilgit Baltistan, a region already vulnerable to various disasters due to it’s high altitude, harsh weather and rugged terrain. Buber valley is the most recent victim of devastating flash flood. Today on 26th August, 2022, at about 10:30hrs, a flash flood diverted from the natural flood path turned towards the populated area and wiped out everything that came in its way. Currently hundreds of people are homeless under the sky. Damages details are under
1. 2 deaths and 4 individuals missing.
2. 80 houses damaged.
3. One prayer hall “Jamatkhana” damaged.
4. Bridge, electric poles, shops, livestock, irrigation channels, link roads, water supply damaged.
I’m Nahida Kiran from Gilgit, Pakistan, currently living in United States is taking a small initiative to raise $5000 for the flood victims’ families. This fund is not affiliated with any charity, NOn-profit org, or club, it will directly go to the flood victims’ families out of my hand. My humble request is for all of you to contribute to my fund raising effort, a donation of any amount would truly help me reach my goal. Thank you
With love,
Nahida Kiran
