My name is Ange-Nelly Barwendere. I am a wife and a proud mother of three beautiful children: my eldest son is 20, my second is 17, and my youngest is 14.

Motherhood has brought many joys, but also great challenges. Our children were diagnosed with autism, and through years of prayer, love, and perseverance, we experienced what I truly believe was a miracle of God , today they are healed. Because of this journey, children with autism will always remain close to my heart.

As I approach my 50th birthday, I don’t want gifts for myself. Instead, I want to dedicate this milestone to something meaningful: supporting the brand new campus of Talitha Koum Center for Autism located in Mutanga Nord , Bujumbura which officially opened its doors on Monday, 15th September 2025.

Talitha Koum Center is a beacon of hope for families who, like us, have faced the struggles of raising a child with autism. At the moment, the center can only welcome 20 children, while over 130 children remain on the waiting list. Many of these families cannot afford tuition fees, and without support, their children may never receive the care and education they deserve.

The center urgently needs:

Learning equipment and educational materials

Toys and play resources

Furniture and essential supplies

I am reaching out to the Burundian ,Rwandese communities anywhere around the world, diaspora, friends, family, and anyone who understands the challenges of raising a child with Learning disability/ mental health, “Autism” especially in a society where such children are hidden, bitten and often excluded from mainstream schools because they cannot speak or struggle with behaviours.
