Fundraising for Ana's Breast Cancer Treatment & Surgery
Donation protected
Update! - The last day of chemo is 23/04 - Yay! she is soooo over it (her words). Its a brutal process.
Your generosity has already helped with paying the surgeons appointments, anesthetists etc.
We still have a ways to go but we are tracking and Ana seems a bit more hopeful with all of this support. Thank you and please keep sharing if you can XX
Hi Friends and family! I am Rachel Thomas, I am Anastasias (Ana) mum. Ana is turning 33 this week, is married with a 1 year old and a two year old, very active toddlers!
Ana was diagnosed with Stage 3 Grade 3 Advanced Ductal Breast Cancer last November. This is very aggressive and has spread to her lymph nodes. This is in fact where she found the lumps first in her armpit then breasts. In fact the photo of her in the blue and white dress she had the cancer and was a few weeks from finding out.
Devastated is an understatement, her struggles are already hard with Ulcerative Colitis, that treatment gave her Lupus, and she had fertility struggles. Now while breast feeding baby Eleanor, the breast cancer.
As bad as it is, it is treatable but its 6 months of pretty brutal Chemo, she's been in hospital twice already with 3 blood transfusion and infections etc, its getting worse near the end. After this there is surgery to remove both breasts and lymph nodes, then radiation treatment, then more surgery for reconstruction.
The treatment has also put her into early menopause (that's yuk at any age).
She will be in a world of pain and incapacitated after the surgeries and we are going to rally to support her where we can.
And all of the above does not come free, there is an estimate of approx $50K for all of the above that has to be paid up front.
Ana and her husband Joe are not well off, they are workers, Ana has not been able to work since the diagnosis.
They have struggled to buy a house but have big mortgage like all of us. My heart breaks for them trying their best now this can devastate them financially.
Friends and family have all said let me know if you need anything, well guys, i'm calling in the offer. We are trying to raise as much as we can to ensure the family survives this, not just Ana.
Despite the above, Ana has been taking this all amazingly, she's still caring for the kids and getting by, but as you can see in the photos, there are good days but alot of bad days.
Anything you can give all helps, even if its $10, if we can get 5,000 people paying $10 we've made it!
If you can't give please pass this to those who can maybe help.
Ana is the first to help anyone else and is very deserving of the help now its her turn.
She won't ask for help (wonder here she got that from!) So i'm talking charge.
I can't imagine losing my hair and breasts at my age let alone 33.
Remember, she's a young 33 year old in her prime, I want her to have the best chance of survival and the best treatment so she can be a young woman and enjoy her life and kids without financial devastation.
Of course many thanks in advance for your generosity.
