Hi, I’m Fran—and somehow (slightly impulsively!) I entered the London Marathon ballot… and got a place!

My husband Jake has been playing for Ampfield and North Baddesley for the past two seasons, after the merger from Southampton Travellers. Every summer I lose him to cricket most Saturdays—and Sundays—so it’s fair to say I become a bit of a “cricket widow”!

Although cricket isn’t really my thing, I’ve come to really appreciate the club. Jake has made some amazing friends, the ground is beautiful, and the social side is fantastic. It’s a great community, and I know the club is always looking for ways to raise funds and keep things going.

So I thought—why not turn my marathon challenge into a way to give something back?

So far, I’ve completed one half marathon (back in September) and have been training hard ever since. Marathon training has definitely been a challenge, but I’m currently on track—according to my running apps at least! Now comes the real test on race day…
