Fundraising for Adelfa Acha's Cancer Treatment

Hello friends and family,

My name is Ferdelyn Acha. I am the eldest daughter of Adelfa and Fernando Acha. I am starting this gofundme to help raise money for my mother who was recently diagnosed with a late stage of metastases brain and spinal cord cancer. It started as a mild, tolerable pain in her hip this past summer, however, at that time her X-rays looked normal. This pain gradually progressed that she eventually had difficulty walking and started having an unsteady gait. One day after an MRI appointment, my father was urgently called to the clinic because mom could no longer drive herself back home or walk. She was then admitted into the hospital. The MRI results and further diagnostic scans in the hospital confirmed that cancer cells have already spread in her brain and spinal cord.

In 2008, my mother Adelfa had won her battle over breast cancer. During that time, she completed chemotherapy treatment and a mastectomy procedure and has been in good health for the last 13 years. This healing wouldn’t have been possible without her positive attitude, faith, and strong support from her family, friends, church community, coworkers, etc. who have prayed and supported her whether physically, financially, or emotionally.

Unfortunately, this recent cancer diagnosis is quickly progressing and has already affected her vision and physical abilities. She is no longer able to stand or walk. Her vision is heavily affected that it has become difficult for her to open her eyes and read messages. Her arms and hands have weakened that she is no longer able to feed herself. She needs physical assistance to get in and out of the bed to the wheelchair, among other deficits.

My father has since left his full-time job to support my mother as she now requires around-the-clock care. In addition to radiotherapy and chemotherapy visits, these medical, travel, and living expenses are too costly for our family to pay for alone. I am appealing to the hearts and kindness of our friends, to help us raise $30,000. Every dollar will go to helping afford her treatment, pay for the pile of medical and treatment costs that are on the long road ahead, and living expenses at this time since my mother and father could no longer work.

For those that know my mom, knows that she is a hardworking, loving mother of three. She has worked as a registered nurse for the past 30+ years. Her big-hearted and generous nature always makes sure the people around her are taken care of before she is. All my life, I have watched her help so many people before helping herself. Now it's time to switch roles and shine the light on her.
