Fundraising for a new everyday wheelchair

Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my page!

My name is Lily, I’m 21 living in west Wales, UK.

I have a progressive condition called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia which will eventually cause me to become paralysed. For me this means I use a wheelchair.

Last year I sustained a shoulder injury whilst doing the sport I love (swimming) which has been a long ongoing battle of physio and rehab. Because of this I have been in and out of the water lots unable to keep my fitness levels up causing me to gain weight ultimately making my wheelchair too narrow for me.

Additionally, for some strange reason being in the water and staying active helps slow the progression of my disability but because I have been in the water less it has caused a more rapid decline of my condition meaning I’m now having symptoms in my upper limbs too.

Im in need of a new every day wheelchair as my current wheelchair is hard for me to push as my upper limb strength and movement is not what it used to be, my posture has changed so I don’t have enough support and the seat is too tight causing pain in my hips when in my chair for longer periods of time.
