Fundraising for a community development program

Hi my name is Jasmin, I‘m here at the moment on a scenic island in west Kenya. Sharing the waters with 3 countries, Lake Victoria inhabits a small group of villagers at Mfangano islands.

One of the village families is George’s:

George is an amazing person and a good friend of mine who’s establishing different heart-based community development programs.

The glance of the idyllic atmosphere on the island is somewhat misleading, distracting ones perception of the fact that many inhabitants are struggling.

George and his family are trying to act on that, by raising founds to build a library and a computer laboratory to educate the young and the old.

Since education is key for a brighter future, he also managed to send 80 orphents back to school and provided education regarding HIV (which is highest on the island compared to whole Kenya). For next year he’s even planning to built an orphanage on his mom’s compound.

After building a library, due to the lack of basic needs such as school books, the project we are currently working on together, is to establish a computer literacy program.

We are aiming to teach the kids basic computer skills to help them during their study and research and moreover provide them with the skills necessary to adapt in a IT demanding world.

Luckily we found a German organization sponsoring a total of 20 laptops and computers for this purpose.

We are know looking for you helping us finance building classrooms to set up the computers and help educate those in need.
