Fundraising Against COVID-19
Donation protected
345 doctors in Massachusetts have been infected with the coronavirus so far (as of March 31, 2020). Their infections are the result of shortages of masks and other protective gear. We are looking to raise $5,000 to buy around 7,000 FDA-approved masks or other medical supplies from China. Each mask costs around $0.75, much less than one can of soda, and it helps to protect medical staff and to reduce the number of infections.
We will split our donations between the Boston Medical Center, UMass Memorial Hospital, Brigham Women’s Hospital, and the Carney Hospital, among others.
We are three high school students in the Boston area, attending the Commonwealth School, Weston High School, and Concord Academy. We hope that these supplies will help these medical workers as they continue to risk their health providing care to thousands.
Thank you,
Anthony Cui, Alex Li, and Zoe Perlis
These pictures above are from the previous donation that we were able to send out to hospitals, specifically Ms. Mo, a nurse practitioner working at the University of Chicago Medicine ER and Chalet Nursing Home. She received 200 N95 masks and a 100 hazmat suits from our previous donation, and the pictures above show how her PPE improved after she received our medical supplies. She further donated 50 of the suits to the UChicago Medicine ER and 50 of the masks to the Nursing Home.
