My name is Emma and I'm fundraising for my Godson Finnick (nicknamed Finbo). He was born 3 months early at 27 weeks weighing 2lb 4oz. He spent 83 days in NICU. He was very poorly at 3 weeks old with Sepsis and we nearly lost him. The doctors and nurses were very quick to act and saved Finnick's life.
The traumatic start to his life meant that Finnick has been left with a number of struggles and has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Finbo's condition means he needs a lot of support and physical aids all of which come at a cost and very little is funded through the NHS.
Recently, my husband Dan ran the Manchester Marathon to raise money for Finnick's private physio but we want to raise more for the continued and ever growing costs his family face.
Finnick has very little mobility and is not able to walk, crawl or move around independently, but he recently received a whizzybug wheelchair for free through a charity and it has given him so much independence, allowing him to play and learn with other children. The whizzybug will only last him until he is 5 (just over 3 more years) at which point he will need a Tiny Trax wheelchair but the cost of this will be £8000 and his mum and dad will need to try to find the money for that. He is on a waiting list for a normal wheelchair through the NHS but that is a 5 year waiting list and so he would be 7 before he gets that. Meaning his first 2 years of school he'd be in a pram and reliant on everyone around him, losing his independence.
We are raising money for this and many other costs that Finnick's family are facing because we believe that he should be able to start school with all the independence and confidence we can give him, so he can learn, play and explore with the other children.
Any donation will be so gratefully received. thank you
