Fundraiser to Restore the Nenana Depot

Tax deductible

On November 11, 2020 the Friends of the Tanana Valley Railroad signed with the City of Nenana to become the new caretakers of the Alaska Railroad Depot in Nenana, Alaska. This building is one of the original Alaska Railroad depots, built in 1922.  Through the 98 years it has become an icon of Nenana, a place of celebration, a supporting structure for both the railroad and the community, and a key piece of history for the Alaska Railroad.

The Friends of the Tanana Valley Railroad would like to see the depot return as a museum, free for everyone to learn about the history of the railroad, how it played a role in building the Alaska we know today, and how it supported many communities like Nenana. The building is in need of repairs before its too late! Please help us save this wonderful building with a donation to purchase supplies and materials needed for projects like:
     - New paint, interior and exterior
     - Repair the roof and eves
     - Repair the main level floor support beams
     - Replace broken glass panes
     - Repair the main floor flooring
     - Update the exterior and interior accessibility for easier access and mobility
     - And much more!

Your donation will help save this wonderful depot for years to come and offer a space for history to be available to everyone.
