FUNDRAISER TO HELP US BUILD OUR OWN KENNELS
Donation protected
We need your help. In the past few weeks, we’ve faced significant challenges behind the scenes. Despite our best efforts, we are still struggling to find forever homes for the many dogs in our care, while the number of abandoned dogs continues to rise. Just yesterday, nine 20-day-old puppies, who can't even eat on their own, were left in a box next to a soccer field. And today, just a couple of hours ago, Natalia, a volunteer we collaborate with, informed us that a mother dog with four puppies was found in a nearby village.
Our resources are limited, and we don’t have a facility of our own. Foster homes are very rare and almost nonexistent, forcing us to place dogs from the pound in boarding kennels, which is costly and unsustainable. Currently, we have eight dogs in boarding kennels, some of whom have been there for up to five years.
In collaboration with Natalia, we also have dogs spread across different fincas (rescue sites). This setup is far from ideal for the dogs or for Natalia, who has to travel long distances in her limited free time to visit the dogs, ensure their safety, and feed them.
To make matters worse, at the beginning of the month, we were told we have to leave one of the fincas, moving all the dogs out with nowhere to go.
However, we have a glimmer of hope – but to make it work, we URGENTLY need your help!
We’ve found a piece of land available for rent that we can transform into our own kennels. Previously a pig and sheep farm, it has running water, appropriate buildings where dogs can be safe and warm at night, and a large outdoor area for them to play. This land has immense potential, but it requires a lot of work before we can move the first dogs there.
We need to clear the buildings of all debris and rubbish left behind. We need to divide the stalls to make sure they’re suitable for multiple dogs. We need to cement the flooring and reinforce the fencing. All of this comes at a cost we simply don’t have the funds to cover.
This is a real opportunity for us to house rescued dogs safely and to control the way they are cared for while they wait to find their families. We would also be able to move the dogs from the other fincas to this central location. This would not only improve their conditions but also allow us to spend more time with them and offer better care.
We have received various cost estimates, and the cheapest one is €9,600. We need to pay 50% upfront, 25% halfway through, and the remaining 25% upon completion.
This project is a collaboration between Teluma’s Dream and Natalia from APA Peludines Sin Suerte. We are jointly raising funds to meet this goal. This opportunity not only helps us get out of the desperate situation of having no place to move the dogs currently in limbo but also brings a positive change for all the dogs spread across different locations. We will finally be able to provide a safe and centralized rescue place for them until they are rehomed.
We cannot do this without your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and bring us a step closer to our goal. This project will transform our work as a rescue and the future of many dogs, but we need your contribution. Together, we can achieve it. We ask you to be part of this life-changing mission.
