On the night of November Mark Tomac suffered a fractured orbital, severe damage to his retina and corneal abrasions. He was rushed to St. Joes hospital. After examination, it was determined that St. Joes did not have the ability to treat an injury of this severity and was transported via ambulance to Stroger Trauma Center in Chicago. His vision still has not progressed as quickly as hoped. There is nerve damage which caused 4 teeth to be almost completely numb, headaches and partial loss of vision. The retina is being monitored because of the seeing of flashes of light which could be a sign of the retina detaching.
Mark is a loving husband and a father of four and his two youngest girls are 7yrs old and a 1yr old. As some of you know, Mark has been a well known tattoo artist for over 25yrs and works between the Joliet area and Tampa Florida, his vision is obviously very important to his occupation. This incident has completely put him out of work and his return is still unknown. We ask anyone who can possibly help to please do so, as medical expenses and expenses of life are financially getting worse by the day.
As we hope his condition improves, time will only tell. Mark has always been a giving soul and willing to help in any situation possible, we hope that in this time of need we can come together and help him and his family. He is currently still in the Chicago area and hoping to be cleared to fly home soon as his wife and kids are still in Florida. This has been a very emotionally filled situation in so many ways, his family is extremely concerned for his well being and they rely on him and his abilities to create a stable living environment for them. The individual who caused this is still at large and has a warrant for 2 counts of aggravated battery against Mark and is currently awaiting a court date for the prior offense of battery at the other location. At the time of the assault the individual had only been out of jail for 6 weeks, before once again causing severe bodily harm to Mark.
