Dear Louisville and Lafayette Families:
There are few educators in our community that has made such a significant and lasting impact on our children as the beloved Monarch K8 and Angevine Middle School LA teacher, Darla Humphrey. Through her love of Shakespeare and the Literary Arts, Darla was able to affirm the struggles of her 7th-grade students in adolescence and affirm their identities and sense of selves through her sense of humor, constant love and support.
Darla taught with deep passion and joy in BVSD for over 30 years, and hundreds of students in our community continue to cite her positive influence and huge heart in helping them become the compassionate and strong young adults they are today.
Her friends and colleagues are reaching out to our BVSD community
in the hopes that they might have the ability to donate towards Darla’s Breast Cancer Treatments in the New Year. We, as her supportive community, would like to give her financial breathing room, be it for medical bills or a weekend of respite once she heals. You are welcome to forward and share our cause. Thank you in advance if you are able to help.
Sincerely,
Tracey Johnston, Kristin Kerr Gannon, Kristin McLaurin-Little & Amber Monroe
