Fundraiser to help Blake Gaultney
Donation protected
Blake Gaultney, a 2017 graduate of West Laurens High School in Dexter, Georgia, needs our help! Blake is a former student of mine. He was also a 4-year member of Junior Civitan during my time as advisor of the club. He came to me after our club meeting one day during his senior year and said, "I want to give back as much as I can. I know what it is like to grow up without much." This was a very profound statement coming from a teenage boy, and has stuck with me over the years since his graduation. He was at every club meeting, every fundraiser. He and his mom would sell the required 20 raffle tickets to raise money for local foster children at Christmas- then ask for 20 or 50 or 100 more to sell. Their family was responsible for providing for MANY happy Christmas mornings for these less fortunate children.
Blake was involved in an accident on Friday, February 26 that has left him with serious head injuries which will require a lengthy road to recovery. He suffered shearing injuries to layers of his brain, and a fracture in the left temporal bone of his skull. The accident also resulted in bleeding on his brain, being placed on a ventilator, feeding tube placement, and having to undergo a tracheotomy. Blake is likely looking at a stay at Shepherd's Spinal Center in Atlanta during his recovery.
While Blake is recovering, Michelle (Blake's mom) is staying at a local hotel that is offering the best rate allowed. While she is extremely grateful, there are still so many other financial needs this family is facing for some time to come. Not only is Michelle out of work while Blake is recovering, he has 3 younger siblings who are affected by not having their brother and mom around. With medical and routine bills mounting daily, I urge you to consider donating. All money will go directly to Michelle to provide for her immediate, day to day needs.
Thanks to all who will consider a prayer for Blake and his family.
Thanks to all who will consider a donation to Blake's family.
Thanks to those who will consider both.
