Fundraiser to Aid My Sister Louise Cheeney
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Liz Sheppard-Meere. I am setting up this Go Fund Me fundraiser to benefit my sister Louise who just lost her barn, garage, cars and quite possibly, her home, to a freak fire yesterday.
Some background for you. Louise is from Wakefield Massachusetts originally, moving to Townsend Mass for 4 years of high school. She met her husband Steve Cheeney while in high school, they married in 1980 and she moved up to NH/VT where he was from. She had a particularly bad couple of years of late. After some bad health scares of her own she took in Steve's brother Mike Cheeney and helped him in his cancer battle, which he lost in the Fall of 2021. Shortly after Mike passed away, her husband was diagnosed with incurable cancer and her brother was also battling cancer. Our brother Dave Dulong passed away in May of 2022 with Louise at his side and then her husband Steve Cheeney passed in July 2022. To add more salt to the wounds and tragic loss, our beloved mother Eleanor Dulong passed away in November 2022. As the family deaths piled on it left Louise devasted. No one should have to deal with that amount of profound loss in the space of 18 months.
Then suddenly, Wednesday, late afternoon while sitting in the livingroom, she heard a loud pop then smelled something burning. Rushing out the front door she sees her garages are on fire!! Chaos ensued and we called 911 while Louise attempted to move her and her granddaugher Marijane's cars away from the fire. It all happened too fast and both cars were engulfed in flames Her car was only 3 months old! She lost her previous vehicle after hitting a deer earlier this year totalling her car. All of her garages went up in smoke, her barn as well. The fire jumped to the side of her house, engulfing the outside of her mudroom. The amazing firefighters had to cut thru her (brand new) roof, and break through several of her (brand new) windows, filling the second floor with water which came thru the ceiling to pool on her new flooring. She hasn't heard about the disposition of the house yet -- it may be uninhabitable.
You cannot imagine the feeling of loss that overcame her. Louise is a 64 year old widow living on social security and a small pension. Her home of 37 years is potentially gone. Her home is over 200 years old and now she now can't live in it and we don't know if she can ever go back. She has no electricity, no water, no car and no clothing.
I ask you, and your circle of friends, to please give what you can to help her in her time of need. Every penny will go directly to Louise to help her in this devasting loss. She is the first person to help others when they are in need, and I'd love to be able to show her that her friends and family care deeply about her and are willing to give of themselves.
Please share this plea on your own Facebook page and ask your friends to share it on their pages.
If you are not in a position to help, please send your prayers.
God Bless you All.
