Fundraiser in honour of Nate Glover

My name is Sheri, and Nate has been in my life for almost 26 years, and subsequently one of my dearest friends. I know what you are thinking… this seems impossible given he's never looked a day over 25.
With Emily's consent and on behalf of the entire family, I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to establish a GoFundMe campaign to offer support to Em during this challenging time. Living in a country where healthcare is provided is a blessing, especially considering the extensive journey Nate has been through, but the mortgage company doesn’t stop asking for money. How Rude. This time was different than the rest, Nate expressed concern – how could he financially support Em? The answer is simple, here through his network of friends and family.
In March 2015, Nate received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 3 colon cancer. While the treatments proved to be aggressive yet successful, the emotional and financial toll was something no one could have anticipated. A diagnosis of that nature is nearly impossible to plan for. Nate in all of his loyalty and commitment to his job continued to work through the best and the worst of it when he could. Even though the chemo could get him out of the woods, the resection surgery and then subsequent reversal surgery would leave him unable to work for extended periods.
A few years later, the cancer reemerged in a different form, upgrading to Stage 4. Nate wasn’t having it, so he fought with unwavering determination, undergoing chemotherapy once again and promptly returning to both of his jobs. The resilience he displayed throughout is a testament to his strength of character, but money should have been the last thing on his mind.
Over the past few months, he had developed multiple spots that necessitated a third round of chemotherapy and not surprisingly he tried to work on what he called the “good weeks” until he was hospitalized shortly later. For updates on the progression, please visit this link.
Nate’s legacy is his loyalty and compassion, he is the light of our lives and certainly the heart of our family and corresponding music communities. I don’t think you would disagree- what truly sets him apart is his innate compassion towards every person he encounters – he is the very definition of kindness and grace.
Reflecting on the countless connections Nate made over the years, it's quite simple. He wholeheartedly embraced all communities, from hardcore to street punk, pop punk, metal, screamo, and skateboarding – you name it. For Nate, it was never about labels; it was about fostering support and family dynamics within each of those places. Did you start a new band with only 10 people in the audience? 1000% you could count on Nate being there, and leaving with the first print of your shirt or record. Because he genuinely believed in YOU.
Emily has been through a journey that no one can anticipate nor can we fully comprehend. But I think we can agree on one thing, Emily is the best thing that has ever happened to our dear Nate. Please help me in granting Nate’s last wish to ensure his wife is ok.
If life insurance should cover a portion of the expenses or if she should not require the entire amount, Emily plans to donate the remaining funds to the HSC foundation and CancerCare Manitoba for the incredible care that they have received over the last few weeks.
We also feel it is important to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the generous contributions you have made up until this point. Please feel free to share your memories in the comments, we will forever keep his spirit alive.
We love you Nate. And we got you Em.
