Fundraiser for Ying Su's Memorial
Donation protected
My mother, Ying Su, passed away at the tender age of 55 years-old on September 23, 2023 in New Rochelle, New York from ongoing health complications. For thirty years, Ying battled with symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus and fought tirelessly to continue living a meaningful life for herself and her loved ones.

She was the proud wife of James Arnwine, whom she had met in her freshman year of college and had known for almost forty years up to her passing. Ying is survived by her parents, and her siblings, Charm, Jimmy, and Kou. Her life was an inspiration to the many people who knew and worked with her over the years, and she will be dearly missed.

She graduated from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in 1990, before working at Parsons and The Fashion Institute of Technology as a professor after a fifteen-year run in the corporate fashion industry. Once graduating from Parsons, she had her own label, The Ying Su Collection, at Barneys NY, Bendel's, Macy's, Saks Fifth Ave, and Charivari. She was then a corporate designer for Morgane Le Fay, The Limited, J. Crew, Liz Lange, and Gap Inc. After being a college professor for nearly a decade, she founded the Fashion Arts Studio of Westchester in 2014 and continued to run the school until the end of her life.

To prepare for her upcoming memorial, I'm raising money to cover expenses for the service. The reception will take place on November 18th at Jolo’s Vegan Kitchen in New Rochelle, and a portion of the money raised would go to paying for renting out the space and food catering. My father and I would use the remainder of the money raised for this cause to pay for any outstanding medical bills, as my mother was frequently hospitalized in the last year of her life. Please help me reach my goal of raising $12,000 to help celebrate Ying’s life and legacy.

If you’re also interested in donating money to a charity, please consider the Lupus Asian Network (LANtern) The Lupus Asian Network is a hospital-based organization that offers bilingual support and educational services to Asian-Americans diagnosed with lupus and their families. My mother and her immediate family were involved with LANtern throughout her lupus journey, and we are grateful to the organization for their dedication to assisting those who are suffering from the disease in the AAPI community.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. I'm immensely grateful for those who have already helped me get closer to my fundraising goal, and I'm aiming to raise $12,000 before her memorial date. Your donation will help me and my family celebrate an extraordinary woman in the most beautiful way possible and ease our transition into the next chapter of our lives without her presence.
