Fundraiser for Wilmington Bilingual Preschool

On Wednesday, November 13, a woman accidentally drove her car through the Young Pre-K room at the Wilmington Bilingual Preschool off Edwards Street. The teachers had just minutes before taken the children outside to the playground, so miraculously no one was hurt. The kids were not near the accident and did not see it happen.

The "what if's" are hard to fathom, as my son is in that classroom, especially given the wreckage of the room. Freak accidents like this remind us of how precious life is, how material things can be replaced, and to hold your loved ones close.
We are grateful for this school, the teachers, the community and the experience our children receive there. We started this page to rally behind the school to help cover costs that they may endure with the help of this community.
This is a fundraiser not to raise money for what insurance will hopefully cover, but to raise money for safety improvements like bollards, a possible speed bump, and other safety measures and equipment. This could also go towards other items for the school, and Ayodele Mellor (the school's director) will provide an itemized list of how the money was spent. This fundraiser is to also simply show support to the school, Ayodele, and the amazing staff!!
My husband (owns a plumbing business and is in the construction field) is working with Ayodele and met with the landlord of the building to help get things going with repairs and safety improvements. There are people who have offered help with rebuilding - like painting, donating new furniture, construction, etc. I think we will be able to put a list together of what needs there are in a week or two. Please comment below if you can help!
In the meantime, I wanted to get this fundraiser going ASAP!
