Fundraiser for Tony Green in his battle with ALS
Donation protected
Hey, Joe Maffei here! As you may or may not know, Tony Green recently announced his retirement from Westside to focus on his health. This was what Tony posted on Facebook:
First and foremost, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and support over the years! It means more to me than you’ll ever know! It was not easy, but I have decided the time has come for me to leave Westside for good. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year. As the disease progresses, it will eventually take my voice, among other things. While I’m not done singing and performing yet, I no longer feel I can give the high-energy party everyone expects and deserves when they attend a Westside show. I've made amazing memories and some of my greatest friends thanks to being part of Westside for the majority of my musical career. I love my Westside family and will surely drop in from time to time. I’m not hanging up my fedora just yet, though, so stay tuned…
There will be a benefit for Tony at Billy's On Grand (857 Grand Ave, St. Paul, MN) this Wednesday, November 15, 2023. I understand some people won't be able to make it in person, so I volunteered to help the Green family by putting together this GoFundMe page.
Tony has been a mentor and inspiration to many performers, including myself. He has entertained thousands of fans over the years. I'm eternally thankful for his lessons in showmanship, teamwork, and in his continued camaraderie over the two decades since meeting him. I'm happy to help by putting this GoFundMe together for my best man, and hope that you can help with a contribution of any size, and by sharing this in your social networks.
Thank you!
