Fundraiser for the Murphy Family
Donation protected
Hi my name is Kerry Weir and I have had the privilege of knowing the Murphy Family- Sandy and Emmett- since they moved up to the Central Coast in 2004 , firstly as their children’s Preschool teacher and then as a family friend. They have 3 beautiful children -2 boys who were both diagnosed with severe autism (non-verbal and with significant developmental delays) from an early age, and a daughter who has had her own challenges with physical complications from birth and additionally an autism diagnosis. During the time I have known this family I have observed them as fierce advocates for their children and the love, care and devotion they have continually demonstrated during some of the most challenging, complex and stressful times is truly commendable.
Their children have always come first and they have made many sacrifices to keep the family unit together. As the children have grown into young adults with more complex needs, Sandy and Emmett have been unable to continue with employment as both parents are needed in the family home to care for, attend to and support their children’s needs. Even with both parents sharing the load, the days can be long and unrelenting with very little respite.
Which brings me to the point of this fundraiser…recently the family have been blindsided and devasted with Emmett’s diagnosis of Stage 4 Cancer throughout his body and he is currently undergoing chemotherapy. The prognosis is uncertain and his health has deteriorated rapidly. The struggle to keep on top of everything both physically and financially is real.
If you are in a position to help by making a donation to this beautiful family it will be very much appreciated. It is one small way to help alleviate some of the challenges and stress they are facing.
