Fundraiser for Pete and Andrea Hussman
The friends and family of Andrea and Pete Hussman have come together for months to provide moral support through Pete's battle with cancer. Pete was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2020. He has had numerous surgeries, chemo and complications resulting in several surgeries and excessive pain and suffering. Pete is the newly appointed Chief of the Coleraine Police Department and an active member of the Trout Lake Fire Department. Andrea is a ridiculously dedicated and hardworking employee at LMNO-Pizza in Cohasset. Pete and Andrea have two wonderful children who desperately need their parents home and life back together. The stress has without a doubt taken a huge toll of their recovery and health.
Pete and Andrea have had serious life-threatening setbacks in the past few weeks. Pete had to undergo one final massive surgery on June 20th, where the doctors at the Mayo had to go into his chest cavity and remove a another mass and two spots on his lungs. Two days prior to Pete's surgery Andrea was hospitalized due to complications with severe scleroderma, a disease she has been bravely battling for years. She was brought from Grand Itasca Hospital to Duluth Essentia then finally to the U of M as her medical needs were advanced passed what Essentia was able to treat. Andrea is in serious renal crisis and will have to undergo dialysis for an unknown amount of time if not forever, along with additional treatment with other complications. Andrea will not be able to return to work for an extended period of time, losing her income in the process. She is suffering with terrible pain from this disease and the stress of every turn of the past year.
On June 30th Pete was brought into the emergency room with severe pain and was placed on IV antibiotics for a post-op infection. The decision was made to airlift Pete back to the Mayo for further treatment of the infection and recovery from surgery.
The stress on the family has been gut-wrenching to watch and we cannot imagine the toll it is taking on their health and recovery. Please consider donating to this humble and caring family in their time of need.
