Fundraiser for the Filopoulos Family

When it rains, it pours. The last few years have been hard for our parents, but the last few months in particular have been the hardest.
My dad has been suffering a great deal in the past few months following an angiogram which resulted in a stent being put in his heart. Since September, he has been advised and gone to the ER five times. He was admitted three of those times due to pericarditis (inflammation around the heart), having a blood sugar level of over 700 caused by diabetes stemming from the steroids he was taking for the pericarditis, and this last time for having CRP (inflammation and infection markers) levels being over 94 when the doctor’s say it should not be higher than 1, having rhinovirus, anemia, three infections, and kidney damage. The most concerning of these was his kidney as he was born with only one. This last stay started the day of our family Christmas on 12/23 and just ended on 1/14, a total of 23 grueling days where my mom did not leave his side.
My dad has been my mother’s caretaker as her health and mobility has declined through the years. She has been almost exclusively wheelchair bound for the last 3 years at least. Her wheelchair is motorized with each part weighing a good 40lbs.
While my dad is home, he is still not 100% and will require home health, countless doctor’s visits, and a multitude of medication. He is not as strong and able as he was before all of this happened, and therefore cannot take care of himself or my mom in the way they need.
Please consider donating to help pay for a wheelchair lift for my parents’ car for my mom to be able to drive without my dad needing to lift the chair for her and to help cover any medical expenses accrued for the hospital stays, doctor’s visits, medications, and other paid help they may need at this time.
