My name is Restetuta Wamala. l am a female professional teacher working at Spring's of Joy Nursery and Daycare school in Kampala, Uganda.

I started teaching in 1969, in primary schools. l retired in 2010 having taught for forty one years, Though l retired l was not tired. l had a dream of starting a school in order to instil the skills l have to the children.

So with the few resources l had, l started with a nursery school in my home, for less as I was already widowed in 1997.

The school opened in 2012 with three pupils and the number increased up to fifty, after COVID l increased the tuition fees so that l may be able to pay the teachers, for most teachers had gone into other businesses. Those who could be found needed much money, the number of children dropped, yet with even parents who default.

As of today we have three teachers, the headteacher and l also teach, with four support staff.

We upgraded to primary three, where we have one child, two dropped, though the children are few each class needs a teacher. We have a few disadvantaged children that are not able to afford the tuition. As a professional teacher l have the zeal to see that children learn in a better environment and those who teach them are well paid.

Now, we are looking to raise funds for 2 new teachers for 1 year to allow for the children to have a better and consistent education.
