Help for Susan West and her dog after tragic fire
Donation protected
There has been a tragedy in our community to one of the biggest-hearted women around--Susan West. Her studio and small rental house were lost in a fire last week and she and her two tenants barely made it out. Sadly Susan’s other dog-13 year old Sweetie Pie, did not survive the fire. Her other dog named Ringo did survive the fire but had very severe burns and unfortunately passed away today. Susan has been helping the communities in northern New Mexico for a long time. She’s been in animal rescue for over 20 years. Susan is an incredible advocate for animal welfare, spay & neuter programs, and the re-homing of animals. She has saved thousands of lives. Her passion for animals drove her to establish The Sweetie Pie Initiative which has transported hundreds of animals from low income areas into Santa Fe for spay, neuter and wellness care. Even on the day of the fire, she made time to coordinate transportation for three dogs that had already been scheduled for surgery. Susan keeps her word. If you’ve met Susan, you know she’ll do everything in her power to help any animal she meets, and give her last dollar to a person in need. Having lost so much in the fire, she is now the one in need of help. Please donate any amount to help Susan rebuild her life. Any support is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.
