Dear Cricketing Community,
FUNDRAISER FOR CARLOW CRICKETER MUHAMMED FAROOQ - YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
Unfortunately, on 7th August 2022, on a very warm summer’s day at Greystones Cricket Club, Co Wicklow, Ireland, playing a regular Sunday League match, Muhammad Farooq a star cricketer from Carlow Cricket Club, suffered a stroke whilst on the cricket pitch.
No-one, least of all Farooq realized how serious the matter was. Like all passionate cricketers, he thought he had arrived with a bad headache due to the heat, and that it would pass, but the situation for Farooq soon became critical and an ambulance was called. Perhaps the worst part of this day was that his young sons were with him.
Farooq was admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital, where he was a high-care patient. With the help of the doctors and specialists, Farooq was treated for the stroke he suffered and was discharged after a few weeks.
But there is much work that Farooq has to do to become fully mobile and regain the strength he has lost on his right hand side of this body, his dominant side. His bowling and batting side.
Farooq is a self employed taxi driver in Dublin, Ireland. With his diagnosis and the medication that he was prescribed, he is unfortunately not permitted to work. This is ultimately for the safety of both Farooqf and his potential passengers. Further to this there have been delays from Social Services to assist him. We believe this is coming.
As friends of Farooq we are looking to help him and his young family out as a matter of urgency. Farooq has been living off his savings which are now deplete. We hope you can help, even the smallest amount goes a long way.
Please share this far and wide to support a fellow cricketer.
With kinds regards,
Friends of
