Fundraiser for Stephanie and Baby Wesley
Donation protected
Stephanie and Johnathan went to the hospital on Thursday, June 25th for a labor induction that should have completed a picture perfect pregnancy. The induction was going as planned until Stephanie started having seizures. Her medical team acted quickly and as they were performing an emergency C-section, Stephanie's heart stopped. Baby Wesley was delivered via C-section while CPR was administered to Stephanie to get her heart beating again. Stephanie suffered an extremely rare and deadly event that only occurs in 1 in 80,000 births, an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE). There are no warning signs or pre-existing conditions that predict this kind of event.
An amniotic fluid embolism occurs when amniotic fluid enters the blood stream and causes an extreme reaction in the body. First, shutting down the respiratory and cardiac system then causes severe bleeding. It is a miracle that Stephanie survived the initial event, and that Baby Wesley also survived. Wesley spent two weeks in the NICU and is doing well.
Stephanie is currently in the ICU at Centennial Women’s Hospital and while making progress, still requires a respirator and continual dialysis. Stephanie has a long road of recovery ahead of her and will be spending countless weeks in the hospital. But Johnathan and family are seeing progress day by day.
Friends have put together this GoFundMe for those who are looking for an avenue to support Stephanie, Johnathan, and Wesley during this tough time.
