Fundraiser for Spike & Monique
Donation protected
Spike and Monique were in a car accident that totaled their van! Thankfully, they were physically unharmed, but the financial impact and loss of business vehicle has been detrimental.
Spike is an Uber driver, and hosts weekly karaoke events which require a large, reliable vehicle for transporting equipment. After insurance payouts, it's looking like a $3K+ loss they are going to have to cover, plus the cost of a new vehicle.
Spike and Monique give so much of themselves to build community and to create safe spaces for social gatherings. Let's show them some love and help them get through this with as little stress as possible.
If you're in the Madison area and want to celebrate that Spike & Monique were not injured, and participate in a fundraiser event to help raise more money, join us on Sunday, November 11. Location and time TBA - if you have a venue for this opportunity please contact us through GoFundMe to discuss!

Here's an update from Spike about the situation:
"The accident did nearly $19,000 worth of damage.
By that measure, State Farm wanted to claim the vehicle as a total loss.
We talked to their total loss department today. They are offering us somewhere in the neighborhood of $14,000 as a settlement.
We also talked to our lender, we owe somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000 (don't ask about gap insurance, for whatever reason we couldn't afford it at the time).
We are at a $6300 loss, and that vehicle represented my livelihood in terms of both my rideshare work and my DJing business (my subwoofers won't fit in the trunk of a car).
We could really use some help here."
