Fundraiser for Sophia and Little Princess Trust

Donation protected

Hi everyone, I’m Lucy, I’m 15 years old.
I have been inspired to set up this page for my little cousin, here is her story…

Back in July, my 10 year old cousin Sophia had a painful foot. They did two x-rays at a local hospital, but they were unable to find a cause of the pain. She was then referred to Stanmore Orthopaedic Hospital where they did an MRI and a biopsy.
The following week they went back for the results and got the heart-breaking news that Sophia has a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumour (MPNST) in her left foot, which is a soft tissue sarcoma. They were told that she will need chemotherapy and will have to have her foot amputated due to it being an aggressive form of cancer.
They were told to go immediately to UCL hospital in London and had to stay there for three days. She had to have a CT scan and a PET scan where they discovered a 3mm nodule in her lung.

Sophia has just had 2/6 of her chemotherapy treatments and has unfortunately already lost her lovely hair. My aunt contacted Little Princess Trust who are a charity that provides real hair wigs at no cost for children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer and other illnesses. They have been able to supply Sophia with a wig which has really helped because she was distressed at the thought of losing her hair.

To show my gratitude to Little Princess Trust, I am going to donate my hair and would like to raise at least enough money to cover the cost of making one wig (£550).
I would also like to raise some money for Sophia and the family so that when she has recovered they can go on a short holiday/weekend away which will give her something to look forward to whilst dealing with these challenges.

I have been growing my hair for as long as I can remember and love it a lot.
Before we found out about Sophia I would never have contemplated cutting my hair a significant amount as it was very important to me. However this situation has made me realise that there are many children like Sophia who are facing terrible challenges and having a wig could bring them some much needed joy.
My hair is currently approx. 36’’ long and I have decided to cut it around shoulder length on the 12th of January.
Therefore, 50% of the money I raise will be donated to The Little Princess Trust along with my hair donation, the other 50% will go to Sophia and her family.

My family and I are extremely grateful for any donations, big or small, for this wonderful charity and to bring joy to my beautiful cousin.

UPDATE!
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has kindly donated! We reached our goal of £1200, so now we’ve set the goal higher to try to raise as much money as we can for Little Princess Trust and for my cousin! It’s phenomenal how quickly we reached our goal and we are so thankful to anyone who has donated or is thinking of donating, the smallest amount will still make a big difference.
