On Friday, August 12 Slanguage Studio and other businesses on Avalon Boulevard were damaged by a massive water main break flood. The pavement had buckled near a utility pole, sending it toppling over. Water continued to bubble up to the surface throughout the afternoon. The streets, sidewalks, cars and businesses were submerged in muddy-looking water.

From front to back, water rushed into Slanguage at an uncontrollable rate leaving everyone ankle-deep in water and affecting the studio floors, furniture, walls and ultimately artworks. The residue left on the floor from the flooding will need to be professionally cleaned so that mold does not take over the studio.
