Fundraiser for Shawn's Funeral & Memorial

10/19/2022 - Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort, Shawn passed away earlier this morning.

My condolences go out to his family, friends, and teammates. He was beyond a good person, and he will be greatly missed by many.

Rest in peace Shawn.

Hi, my name is Mike and I am fundraising for one of the players on my baseball team, Shawn Chiaramonte.

Shawn was airlifted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center after a jet ski accident this past Friday. During surgery, the medical staff feared the worse and asked Shawn's family to fly in from Chicago. Shawn had multiple internal injuries and wasn't breathing upon arrival. Doctors had to remove his spleen and they noted cracked ribs, several punctures to his liver, and internal bleeding which was finally stopped via a 2nd surgery over the weekend.

10/10/2022 - Shawn is still intubated and the doctors are slowly weaning him off the 10 pain medications he is on, so we are hopeful to speak with him sometime soon. And we are hopeful he is on the road to recovery.

Unfortunately, Shawn doesn't have medical insurance. As you can imagine, the cost of his medical bills is going to be astronomical. Additionally, he's going to need time off of work to heal, he'll need physical therapy, follow-up appointments, etc, etc.

We are hopeful this fundraiser will help Shawn with his medical bills and recovery.

*** As a note, we listed 25K as a goal because we were told that asking for anything more would look like a "money grab." From what we understand, Shawn is going to owe much, much more. So any amount donated will greatly help.
