My name is Liz Harrison and am a combat veteran; I deployed in 2010 to Afghanistan with the Vermont Army National Guard as a medic. I’m also a prior law enforcement officer and have worked EMS. I am currently raising money to cover the cost of adopting a service dog and transporting him home to Virginia from Texas.
I’m currently at Warriors Heart (WH) in Bandera, TX, and am enrolled in the K9 Program in hopes of adopting a service dog. I have been matched with a 1.5-year-old Doberman, named Nolan who was rescued from the animal shelter. While working one on one with Nolan, he will have mastered basic obedience and when training is complete, he will be a certified service dog. He will be able to recognize triggers and provide me with support when I return home enabling me to live a more fulfilling life with friends and family.
Nolan and I have created a bond over the last two weeks and his personality has come out. Nolan also likes to play fetch and amuses himself with a tug toy when not working. He makes everyone smile when he is around.
I’m starting this fundraiser to raise $6,200. $5,000 total to complete the adoption process and additional $1,200 for new dog essentials (equipment, crate, food, etc), and transporting him home. The overall adoption cost is $5000.00, which is over half the price of a normal service dog adoption (covers food, veterinary visits, medication, training and equipment and maintenance, and supplies while Nolan is here at WH).
If you are able to assist in donating to help me raise the $6,200, I will need to do so by 20 February 2023. If I don’t raise the amount I will not be able to take him home and will then donate the money
Please don’t feel obligated to donate, if it is in your heart, please share this post with friends and family. If you can help contribute to Nolan’s adoption, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
