Hello Family, Friends, and Community,
My name is Joseph Gonzalez, and since I was a kid, I’ve always had a dream of becoming a musician. Music has always been a part of my life. It's something that’s shaped who I am and continues to inspire me every day.
Growing up, I was surrounded by music. My dad worked as a DJ at restaurants and parties, and I would always be there to help him set up and watch him perform. Those experiences sparked something in me. A deep appreciation for sound, rhythm, and the joy that music brings to people.
As I got older, many of my friends began forming their own bands, and seeing them perform motivated me to learn an instrument myself. When I was 12 years old, during the COVID pandemic, my dad bought me my first guitar. While the world slowed down, I spent that time teaching myself how to play. That guitar became my escape, my teacher, and my passion.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to join my friends at their gigs, and each time I felt more certain that this is what I want to dedicate my life to. Now, as a senior in high school, I have the chance to take this passion and turn it into something meaningful through my senior project.
My friends and I recently started a musical group, and for my project, I want to focus on helping our group grow while creating a stronger connection with our community. What makes our group special is that the music we play is deeply connected to our Mexican culture. We perform regional Mexican music songs that carry tradition, emotion, and the spirit of our heritage. This style of music tells stories about family, love, hard work, and pride. It’s a sound that connects generations, bringing people together no matter their age or background. Through our performances, I hope to help keep this music alive and share the beauty of our culture with others.
My goal is to organize a community fundraiser and live music event where people can come together, enjoy local talent, and support young musicians with big dreams. I want our event to represent not just our group, but our roots and the culture that inspires our sound.
To make this possible, I’m reaching out to ask for your support both financially and through participation. The funds raised will go toward:
Food ingredients and refreshments for the event
Table and chair rentals
Sound and lighting equipment
Instruments and music gear to help our group perform at our best
Promotional materials to help spread the word and reach more people
Every contribution no matter how big or small will make a real difference. If you’re not able to donate, simply sharing our project or helping us find sponsors, equipment donations, or local vendors would mean the world to us.
This project isn’t just about a grade or a school requirement, it's about building something real. It’s about turning a dream into action, creating music that brings people together, and showing what young artists can do with the support of their community. It’s also about honoring our Mexican heritage through the music we love, and inspiring others to stay connected to their culture and roots.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for believing in what we’re trying to accomplish. Your encouragement and generosity will help make this dream a reality not just for me, but for my entire group.
With gratitude and hope,
Joseph Gonzalez
