Fundraiser for Scotty Harris

Hi, it's Polly O'Keary. Some of Scotty's closest friends have decided to start a GoFundMe for Scotty Harris.

As every one of their many, many friends knows, Scotty and Lissa were the hardest working couple you could name. They lived their dream together, a dream of doing music for a living, and that is no easy dream. Yet they were so devoted and willing to work that they accomplished the nearly impossible, and two working musicians bought a house together.

When Lissa developed cancer, many of us privately worried about how they would make ends meet without her income while she fought the illness. They quietly figured it out for months and told their worried friends that they were making do. Then, when Lissa lost her fight, a number of friends gently approached Scotty again to see if he would need a bit of help to get by. Again, he said he was managing.

But now the reality of the situation is becoming clear. It will take some time for Scotty to adjust to making it work on one income. He is still paying off the house that he shared with his love, and that has been the scene of so many happy memories of huge Christmas parties full of music and food. Of course, losing a loved one also comes with financial strains, and he is contending with those expenses.

Let's do one last thing for Lissa. Let's raise some of the money that Lissa would be making if she was still here, and give Scotty enough breathing room to have a few months to adjust and get caught up.

This is a wonderful community, and Scotty is one of the best people in it. Unfortunately, sometimes all of us get handed more than we can take on alone. But with a community like this, he won't have to.
