Hi Everyone,
Many of you have probably noticed that Saundra has not been around too much for the past couple of months and that’s because she has been in an out of the hospital battling complications from a recent operation.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Saundra is a cancer survivor, and what a strong and inspiring survivor she is! The cancer that Saundra batted and overcame manifested in a number of masses throughout her body. Several years ago Saundra underwent substantial radiation treatment. The treatments were ultimately a success, however the treatments resulted in extensive nerve damage in her sacrum area, that caused her a lot of pain. This debilitating pain has been ongoing for several years now and so on September 24th Saundra had surgery. The surgery was a huge success – an intrathecal pain pump was installed delivering pain medication directly to her sacrum where the nerves were damaged, which was the source of her pain.
Unfortunately, several days following the surgery prior to Saundra’s expected discharge, she experienced Atrial Fibrillation which triggered low blood pressure and also a large blood clot that got lodged in her right lung. These complications, among others, extended her initial stay in the hospital from 5 to 16 days before she was finally discharged!
I wish I could say that was the end of Saundra’s troubles, but it was not. Several days after being discharged Saundra was feeling extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, and inability to sleep. This continued to worsen until she knew something wasn’t right and made the call for help. Saundra was rushed to the emergency room where she was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure as well as Pulmonary Edema (fluid in the lungs). After several days of draining fluids off of Saundra’s heart and lungs, she stabilized and began to recover.
Saundra is back home and feeling much better now. We are so thankful she is in recovery and doing well, but all of this has taken a toll on her financially. As great as our insurance is, no insurance covers everything and Saundra is having some challenges paying for all of the out-of-pocket expenses to include an Ambulance ride that totaled $2,776. On top of this Saundra is in the process of moving out of her home and having to absorb those costs at the same time.
Saundra is a huge part of this team, and I thought it would be awesome if we could help her out a little in her time of need. There is absolutely no pressure to donate, but if you would like to contribute, any amount is very much appreciated and I know Saundra will be extremely grateful.
Thank you so much for your time reading this and for your help. If you have any questions, please let me know.
