Fundraiser for Robert Douglas Young

Dear GoFundMe reader, please consider donating for a worthwhile cause. This fundraiser is firstly to help raise legal funds for myself and then to help the GRG Supercentenarians project. This project was begun in 1997. But in this day and age, project success is often measured by financial backing, and the GRG mission to slow and ultimately reverse the effects of aging remains unfulfilled. Much of the project work remains undone but planned...the GRG, for example, has over 2000 supercentenarian cases that aren't even processed yet.

At the same time, while I have built my career with the utmost integrity, it takes all sides to operate honestly to maintain no need for legal services. Unfortunately, both myself and GRG member Waclaw Jan Kroczek have been unfairly attacked with false allegations...and yet these allegations were made in civil, not criminal, court, which leaves an unfortunate financial loophole: whereas in criminal cases, defense attorneys are provided to those who cannot afford them, that's not the case with "civil" court. That, in this day and age in a modern America where "freedom" is supposed to be the overarching vision of the land, I find it incredulous that legal support for my career is now dependent upon whether I can raise enough funds to obtain a Lawyer. I and Waclaw are certainly innocent, but we live in a system where cases are decided not by guilt or innocence but by Money and Power. And so, having come to this realization, and realizing how serious the situation is and firmly believing in standing up for what is right, I have decided to start as "Go Fund Me" to raise funds, firstly, for legal defense vs the false accusations that are impugning not just my and Waclaw's integrity, but seek to shut down the 26-year GRG Supercentenarians project. Given that I was one of the early joiners of this project and have been with the GRG for 24 consecutive years, and the GRG was the starting point of my career in supercentenarian research (aside from Guinness World Records), I do feel that it is of utmost importance that all efforts be made to put this project back onto the visionary track that myself, and others had for it over a quarter-century ago.

To be clear, since I'm innocent there are no charges, yet the false allegations in a civil proceeding seeks to damage the history, reputation, and websites of the Gerontology Research Group (https://grg.org/SC/SCindex.html), this is a legal loophole situation where I don't qualify for legal representation, despite false accusations made against my person. Something needs to change to close this loophole. While any funds donated to this fundraiser will first go to my legal cause regarding this topic area, should donations exceed need, remaining funds will be used to push for changes in the law, to ensure that this kind of "legal loophole" doesn't happen again.
