THANK YOU , most generous Supporters of the Canon!! I will leave this open for a couple of days, as any monies exceeding £1,000 will enable a fitting fee for the composer rather than the most generously offered ‘friend’s rate’.

In July this year my daughter Alma and I played our first professional concert together. It took place in the Islington Festival of Music and Arts, and we played a programme of Baroque and contemporary music with James Johnstone and Sebastian Comberti.
Violist and composer extraordinaire Rachel Stott was in the audience, and was very much taken by the ingeniuity of a mini-sonata-duett by G. Ph. Telemann, written in the form of a perfect canon.
An idea was born - that Rachel would write a ‘Riposte to Telemann’, a contemporary canon for recorder and violin. A challenge and a half for any composer!!
Your contribution to this endeavour would be supporting one of the best living British composers writing for period instruments in her creative process. Rachel’s canon will enrich the original repertoire for recorder and violin, and It will no doubt contribute to programming possibilities of a great number of existing groups. We hope to perform it first, most likely in the 2026-2027 season in Lewes.
Any contribution, however small, would be very gratefully received. Please let me know privately (or here if you wish) if you would like your name included in the programme of the first performance, as a Supporter of the Canon.
