Fundraiser for Rick Hartman
Donation protected
On the night of February 2nd Rick slipped on ice while walking up the steps to his house and couldn’t get up. Luckily his son was there and called 911. After x-rays and MRIs it was determined that he had shattered his C7 vertebra and would not be able to walk again and could not feel anything below mid-chest. He is currently in ICU after having two surgeries. He will remain in ICU until they can get his vitals stabilized and get him off the ventilator. He will then be transferred to a VA facility to determine how much functionality he will have and for extensive spinal rehabilitation to make the most of what he is able to do. Depending on how therapy goes will determine what his next step will be, whether it’s living independently or if he will need assisted care.
Rick does not have health insurance or disability insurance. There is a lot of therapy and unknown medical costs in his future as well as costs to keep his farm and other bills up to date until it is determined what he will be able to do. There will also be travel costs for his children to get to and from the VA facility he gets transferred to. We greatly appreciate any help you can give whether it be in the form of donations or in getting the word out about this fundraiser. Thank you.
