On May 10, 2023 at 4:08 p.m I lost my brother Rene Gonzalez due to ongoing complications related to a brain tumor. My brother was diagnosed in December of 2018 he had his first surgery in December of that year to attempt in removing the mass but the surgery was not successful and he lost complete vision of his right eye due to a blood clot. My brother’s second surgery was in January of 2020 and they were able to remove 70-80% of the tumor but after the surgery my brother had a change in his mental status and lost his short term memory. My brothers long term memory was in tact as he was able to remember his family. In September of 2019 my brother was hospitalized due to a cyst that developed in his brain related to the tumor and a second cyst that developed in May of 2021. My brother had two separate rounds of radiation treatment in an attempt to shrink the remaining part of the tumor but resulted in partial loss of vision of his left eye. During all the treatments and surgery’s my brothers physical state also started to decline to the point where he could no longer walk or stay awake. I lost a huge part of my life as he was my only sibling and I loved him beyond words could even describe. My brother was such a beautiful soul and he was so giving. Rene lost this battle unfortunately, but he didn’t go down without a fight. If you cannot donate, please share
