Fundraiser for Reid Callaway Cancer Treatment

Hi, this campaign is being sponsored by myself and my 3 sisters, Hope, Katy, and Faith. We started this fundraiser on behalf of our father, Reid Callaway. He was recently diagnosed with Stage IIc prostate cancer. Below is a summation of his diagnosis by his urologist:

 

"5 of the 13 locations that they biopsied were found to be cancerous. The most aggressive one found was in Gleason grade group 3. This falls into the 'intermediate' risk category. Although some areas have a lower Gleason score, evaluation and treatment is based on the most aggressive cancer found. "

 

It is quite likely that his cancer is directly related to his service in the Vietnam War and his exposure to Agent Orange. He has applied for compensation for this through the VA, but has not been approved as of this writing. He does have access to care through the VA, but the options they cover are not acceptable.

 

He has opted for a minimally invasive surgery offered by a specialist in Delray Beach, Florida. The procedure they perform is known as Focal Laser Ablasion. It has minimal side effects, and is very successful. The only issue is that it is not a treatment covered by the VA. So we are hoping to help him raise the funds necessary for the treatment and travel expenses for him and his wife Andrea from Hawaii to Florida.

 

The funds will be used for his FLA (cost: $30,000), vitamin C treatments ($300 weekly), and travel expenses to and from Hawaii and for the duration of their stay in Florida.
