**Spinathon 29th February and half Marathon 21st March**

I am Marco Memoli and I am organising two events to raise money to help my good friend Ravi, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, to get a new custom-made wheelchair he so desperately needs.   There is no treatment or cure for his muscle wasting condition, which is life threatening and life-limiting.  A new chair will cost a staggering £28,000. Ravi has already raised almost £18,000 on his own and I want to help him raise the rest as soon as possible.

As a Personal Trainer people describe me as charming, boisterous and fashion conscious with an Italian temperament. One thing I can assure everyone reading this is that no one has or will ever describe me as a runner. So, running a half Marathon on 21 March 2020 with Alex, an ex-soldier, seemed like a great idea until he mentioned that he casually runs 21KMs in around an hour and 45 minutes which he neglected to tell me before we signed up.  So now I know he is going to be there to basically mock and torture me, an Italian who skipped national service and opted to stay home with mamma!

I am, however, something of a ‘Spin King’ and I will also be holding a Four-Hour -Non-Stop-Spinathon where I will put 24 other spinners through a gruelling session where even toilet breaks will be paid for with Burpees, press ups and sit-ups!

-Why am we doing this?
When a friend says “I just want to enjoy the time I have left” you know it is time to try and help.

My friend Ravi is in desperate need of a new Wheelchair that needs to be custom made to his body shape and have endless tilt positions to provide the support he needs to allow him to move around both inside and outside his home: the wheelchair needs to play the part his limbs no longer can.  Unfortunately, his current wheelchair has reached the end of its life and Ravi desperately needs a new one so he can continue to enjoy the rest of his and I am inviting you to help me to get him the Ferrari of wheelchairs.

Ravi is 29, a University graduate who has never let his life-limiting condition get in the way of his ambition and drive. He smiles everyday even after 6 months in hospital and lives knowing that lost time is never found again so gives 100% to everything he does and everyone he knows and meets. He loves a night out especially when you include a good old JD and coke OR anything with a touch of alcohol in it. He is, unfortunately, a Man Utd fan but I still want to help him!

So, I ask if you would be kind enough to Sponsor, Donate or both to help raise money to get Ravi the wheelchair he needs:

Donate for the Spinathon on 29th February so I can give the spinners a four hour ride they will never forget!
*If you personally know any of the Spinners and would like them to receive an extra ‘grilling’ please donate a little extra and let me know*

Sponsor Alex and me to run a half marathon on the 21st March 2020. The more we raise the faster he will make me run.

Thank you for taking the time to read this

Please send this on to friends and family

There will be pictures and write ups of both events to follow in the coming weeks...
