At the end of December I will be donating my hair to Angel Hair for Kids, and will also be raising money throughout the whole month for the Rainbow Refugee Society. Rainbow Refugee is a “Vancouver based community group that supports people seeking refugee protection in Canada because of persecution based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression (SOGIE) or HIV status.” Check out their website for more information!

Please also read this article that tells the story of a couple who Rainbow Refugee helped seek refuge in Canada. It is heartbreaking to learn what they have gone through, but it is also just a small glance into the terrible experiences people are faced with and that this organization seeks to help.

If you know me you know that I have a passion for human rights and helping people, and I believe this organization has a wonderful and powerful mission. I am a straight cis person and have never been faced with hate or discrimination based on my sexuality or my choice of gender identity and how I choose to express it. I very firmly believe that everyone should be able to live a life where they are free to be who they are and love whoever they want. I hope that you consider donating to the Rainbow Refugee Society and that together a contribution can be made that will be able to, at least, have part in positively impacting someone's life.
