Fundraiser for Prince, who had surgery for paralysis.
Donation protected
Marian, Operations Director of NOTL Cats, decided to go ahead with surgery for Prince, one year old. He was paralyzed, in his two hind legs, and they found there was a tumor on his spine that would continue to grow and result with no function in his front legs as well. Prince was born in NOTL Cats care, was adopted, then returned after he was showing difficulty walking. Ontario Veterinary College had 3 previous cat patients with this similar situation, and had successful surgery. Prince is on his way recovering now and may need radiation at a later date. So far NOTL Cats has paid over $10,000.
We appreciate any donations to help pay for Prince's vet bills and your continued support for our cats in need.
History:
Prince, a 1-year-old, Male Neutered, Domestic Short Hair, was presented to the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) Health Sciences
Centre (HSC) Neurology Service on 17-05-2024 for elective decompressive surgery at the level of T3 vertebrae.
Recent history:
Prince was initially seen by the OVC Neurology Service on May 10th, 2024 for a 2 months history of non-ambulation. He was found
to be spastic paraplegic with nociception negative in both pelvic limbs but present along the tail. On May 13th, 2024, an MRI of the
thoracolumbar spine and CSF tap revealed a mass within the right ventrolateral portion of the T3 vertebral canal protruding from
the vertebral body accompanied by a.CSF lymphocytic pleocytosis. The working diagnoses was a T3 vertebral angiomatosis. A
surgical decompression and biopsy of the spinal cord at the level of T3, followed by an eventual radiation therapy were
recommended.
