CRH Trepassey & CRH Sandiway Minibus Fundraiser
Trepassey Residential Home, Heswall and Sandiway Manor, Northwich are part of the Cheshire Residential Homes Trust.
The Trust has always helped with social funding when families have struggled financially. In 2020, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, several of our residents were given rooms, with a view of it being a short-term stay. They grew to treat our home as their home, so rather than having the upheaval of finding another place to live, the trust arranged for them to stay with us, thus giving them the security, stability, care and peace of mind that they needed.
In May 2021, we set up a fundraising committee, and staff at Trepassey and Sandiway, worked together, encouraging others within the community and obviously, our Trepassey and Sandiway families, to raise funds to enhance the lives of our residents.
Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase our very own minibus, which seemed so ambitious last year, but through the generosity of so many, we are definitely well on our way!
Due to the pandemic, life has been very different, and at times, quite difficult at both of the homes. We haven't been able to book entertainment, go for days out, or even have visitors! When chatting with our residents, it became very clear that the simple pleasures in life are so important to their well-being. The idea of purchasing a minibus created a great deal of excitement amongst residents, and staff too!
Our first fundraiser, a sponsored treadmill walk from Land's End to John O'Groats, began on Thursday, 3rd June 2021. Our CEO, Robert MacGregor, launched the event, and was the first person on the treadmill to start our 1000 mile journey.
We completed the challenge, with a couple of days to spare, on 4th July, then both homes held Midsummer Fairs during that week!
Along with our fundraising, we have been extremely lucky to have received some very generous donations. However, we just need a final push to help us to reach our goal and purchase our minibus for summer days out.
