Our previous fundraising page closed at an incredible £1,069.70 — thank you so much to everyone who contributed!

My brother and I are running the Manchester Half Marathon on 12th October to raise money for FND, a cause very close to our hearts.

Last year, our mum was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) after many hospital stays where she experienced seizures with stroke-like symptoms. These left her unable to speak or move, with prolonged effects of severe fatigue. A diagnosis was difficult to get, with doctors suggesting potential Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's or even early on-set dementia.

FND is shockingly under-recognized, despite being one of the most common neurological conditions. It affects around 50–100 people per 100,000 — that's an estimated 7.9 million people living with FND worldwide. Yet awareness remains low, and access to care is limited, with some patients facing a two-year wait to see a specialist.

Women are disproportionately affected, making up 60–70% of diagnosed cases.

Any support you can offer — whether through donations or by sharing this page — means the world to us and helps raise crucial awareness for those living with FND.
