Memorial Fund for Odie McClung
Donation protected
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Cammie and Odie is my brother in-law. He is married to my dear sister Khara. He has 3 young children at home who I absolutely adore. My nieces and nephew Matilyn-12, Lauryn-8, and Logan-5
Today we are starting a fund in Odie’s honor and to support the family. Odie has been fighting lung cancer for over 2 years. He went into remission during 2016, to only have it return again in 2017. Since August, he has been hospitalized five times with unrelenting pain. During the first hospitalization this summer, we sadly learned that his cancer had metastasized.
Early on he underwent a lobectomy and has had countless amounts of chemotherapy. He has fought hard! His trust in God has only increased as a result of his journey with cancer.
As of his last hospitalization just over a week ago, Odie with the support of his loving family and his doctors, decided to enter into home hospice care. Over the last several weeks Odie has been surrounded by the love of many of his family members. My sister and the kids have been there to make him smile and snuggle on him. My parents, Lynn and Mickey Roy have been there daily to support him and care very deeply for him. In addition to his Michigan family and friends, he has had so many out of state visits from his daughters & sons, siblings, cousins, and friends who have cared for him and poured love on him also. I know that this has meant the world to Odie
As you can imagine, this has been emotionally, physically, and financially devastating for all of the family. Khara has missed significant amounts of work with all of the hospitalizations and is staying home to be by his side in this precious time. Odie has been off of work for the last year due to restrictions and side effects from chemotherapy. I know many of his Lowe’s co-workers have expressed how missed and beloved he is. He loved being a part of his Lowe’s family.
At this time we are setting up a fund to help with the families many financial needs. The money will be used to cover everyday expenses (mortgage/utilities), hospital bills, and funeral preparation.
Thank you for the contributions. Each and every one will greatly help them. We understand that this time of year is difficult financially for everyone, especially as the holidays approach. If you cannot contribute, would you please still take time to leave Odie a message. I know it will greatly touch his heart, bless him, and provide comfort at this delicate time.
From the bottom of Odie and Khara’s heart, thank you so much to friends and family for all that each of you have done over the last several years. Your prayers and compassion have been felt and have provided so much strength and comfort in many times of trial and uncertainty. They truly feel your love and are grateful for each and every one of you❤️
