Ocean is a beautiful Dominican-Argentine boy born in Las Terrenas, Samana, DR with Cerebral Palsy and West Syndrome. Ocean and his family are asking for your help with his ongoing medical expenses.

His diagnosis is Cerebral Palsy and West Syndrome with a decreased corpus callosum and cortico-subcortical atrophy. We still don't know why this condition developed. The genetic studies performed at the time were inconclusive, but we have taken every precaution to help him cope and support his development with diet, stimulation, and therapies.

Today, Ocean is medicated daily with Valproic Acid to control his seizures, which still appear on his EEG.

Thanks to this fundraising effort, we were able to move to Argentina and receive medical support to soon undergo metabolic studies for the first time and more in-depth genetic studies. We are also awaiting the delivery of a postural chair and a special walker for gait training. He receives daily kinesiological support from top professionals, as well as visual stimulation, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. A few weeks ago, we injected Botox into his leg muscles to block the neural signals that cause spasticity.

However, it is still not enough for baby Ocean. At age 5, he is still not able to walk or speak. Following the Botox injection, it is a crucial time to stretch and strengthen his legs. To that end, we want to use Cuevas Medek (CME) therapy with him, created in Chile and practiced in Argentina by top-tier physical therapists, with truly amazing results in gait stimulation.

That's why we are asking for your help to cover the costs of these therapies, as well as the additional costs of transportation and the various supplies we need for daily life.

Su diagnóstico es parálisis cerebral y Síndrome de West, con un cuerpo calloso disminuido y atrofia córtico-subcortical. Aún no sabemos por qué se desarrolló esta condición. Los estudios genéticos realizados en su momento fueron inconclusos, pero hemos tomado todas las precauciones para ayudarlo a sobrellevar la situación y apoyar su desarrollo con dieta, estimulación y terapias.

Hoy, Ocean recibe medicación diaria con ácido valproico para controlar sus convulsiones, que todavía aparecen en su EEG.

Gracias a este esfuerzo de recaudación, pudimos mudarnos a Argentina y recibir apoyo médico para, muy pronto, realizar estudios metabólicos por primera vez y estudios genéticos más profundos. También estamos a la espera de la entrega de una silla postural y un andador especial para entrenamiento de la marcha. Recibe apoyo kinesiológico diario de excelentes profesionales, además de estimulación visual, terapia ocupacional y fonoaudiología. Hace unas semanas, le inyectamos Botox en los músculos de sus piernas para bloquear las señales nerviosas que causan la espasticidad.
